Bishop's Beach

5"x 7"
Oil on Canvas Board
Bishop's Beach in located Homer, Alaska. This is actually a tidal pool that opens on to the beach. Homer is located on Kachemak Bay. I painted this for my friend, Fran Moore. I met her when we first moved to Alaska in 1977. She has remained a constant and delightful friend.

Wetlands Anchor Point, Alaska

5"x 7"
Oil on Canvas
When we are in Alaska, May through September, I love to paint the wetlands and beach at the Anchor River in Anchor Point. Our place is one mile from the beach. We go most days to check out the waves or walk on the gray gravel and rock beach. It is always an inspiring place. We will be driving to Alaska this year. I look forward to the beautiful drive up to and through Canada.

Windy February Day

7"x 5"
Oil on Canvas Panel
$50 Sold

Sheri Jones and I took advantage of a warm windy February day to paint outdoors. We were waiting for the sun to go down. I painted a small panel to capture the grass colors with the cedars greens. I didn't capture the sunset. That painting became a "wipe out". Not every plein air is a keeper. I like this one because it was completed on site.

Pasture on Cripple Creek Road

9"x 12"
Oil on Canvas Board
After two weeks of icy cold weather, we are having a week of partly sunny days in the 70's. My painting friend, Sheri Jones, had the day off, so we went in search of an inspiring place to paint. We found it on Cripple Creek Road. The goats were watching us as we watched them. It was very windy, but sunny and warm. It was an exhilarating day for Plein Air painting.

Winter Fantasy

16"x 20"
Oil on Canvas
I have been thinking about how I want to do abstract landscapes. Linda Miller, a painting friend, has a place on the Paluxy River where I have painted several plein air paintings. This abstract is based on a group of trees on her place.

Mug with Oak Leaves and Grapes

10"x 8"
Oil on Canvas Board
With the cold weather, I have been enjoying painting still life setups. This is one of my favorite cafe ware mugs. There are not many green plants this time of year, but one can always count on the Live Oak to produce interesting branches and leaves. Seems like I always have grape around and they are fun to paint.
