Friday my painting friends, Sheri Jones and Joyce Thomas,
and I went in search of wildflowers and bluebonnets. We did find on Chalk Mt. Road near Glen Rose
lovely blue verbenas and yellow flowers. It was a perfect spring day and such a delight to be painting
outside. It is a day I will remember as
my husband and I prepare to drive north through Canada to Alaska with our
Casita trailer. It will be about a two
week trip since we like to take our time and enjoy the drive.
This scene is from last year’s beautiful display of
bluebonnets in a field bordering Country Road 1004 near Glen Rose, Texas. After several good rains the last week of
March, I am hoping the bluebonnets will be as lovely this
April.Spring in Texas is such an explosion
of new greens and beautiful wild flowers of all colors.I look forward to plein air painting.
As a plein air artist, I love painting the landscape of both Texas and Alaska. I work mostly in oils, but also enjoy working in pastels, and sculpture. My contemporary abstract paintings are inspired by my plein air paintings as well as my reference photos.
